Waste heat from engines may also be used to generate steam to power this engine. Because of a revolutionary new patented means of converting reciprocating movement into rotary movement, the "Green Steam Engine" has dramatically simplified the piston engine. A full size engine such as the one in the picture weighs as little as 5 lbs (less flywheel) yet produces ample power to run a boat or a generator. Its amazingly small profile allows it to be used in very small spaces.

I’ve not seen one of these in ages, a fully working minature steam engine (and I’ve never seen a model engine with so much shiny brass). The classic Locomobile is works like a real steam engine but is 1/8 the size. You fill the boiler with water, light a dry spirit tablet and when the boiler is hot enough the steam powers the engine (and the all important whistle). This is one of those toys that as well as being fun and educational is also a pretty good investment IMO (though bear in mind I have a shed full of 2000 AD comics that I thought would be worth something one day (Sylvestor Stallone (Judge Dredd) has a lot to answer for)). A small vertical steam boiler modeled after a typical boiler which would be used to steam a small engine. Kit includes all piping necessary to complete the water, steam and exhaust lines. The O scale boiler is 2" high and the 1:20.3 scale boiler is 4 1/2" high. This boiler would be the perfect size to steam our small vertical steam engine.
